English Museum Collection Teddy Bear.
The bear comes with his Museum Authenticity Card tag included (see photograph).
Antique teddy bear "Bobby", with provenance- he belonged to the actor Andre Morell (he played the title role in the TV series "Quatermass" in the 1950s.) The Quartermass Childhood bear belonged to one of the actors featured in the Quartermass British television series. Beginning in 1953, the series was the first full-scale science fiction program. Before then, nothing like the Quartermass Experiment had been seen in Britain.
Circa 1930 (according to the Museum).
This Antique teddy bear has not been restored by us and is in the Original condition it was in, as displayed in the Museum. A very old and over-loved teddy bear in playe-with Vintage condition with age appropriate wear and overall mohair loss. All restoration and repairs including replaced paw-pads were prior to purchase in 1994 and this is how he was in the Museum . (Please see detailed condition close-up photos).
Beige mohair, glass eyes, 12 inches tall, jointed.
The paper sign and Quatermass picture seen below were with him in his glass display in the Museum.
In 1994 the Tetbury Teddy Bear Museum in the Cotswolds, England, closed and John McBride bought many of the wonderful teddy bears and props. A huge collection of antique and vintage teddy bears, toys and teddy bear-related books.
