Studio Anne Carlton, SAC Hand-painted 4.5" King Size Chess Set.

Sculpted with great attention to detail and authenticity. This set shows the English and Scottish and the most important characters of the era prior to the famous battle at Culloden in 1746. Bonnie Prince Charlie was convinced that the Scots could beat the English in battle and thus the scene was set for Culloden. Fewer than 5000 rebels were mustered for the Prince's Army. They fought the Duke of Cumberland's Army of 6400 foot-soldiers and 2400 cavalry.

Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Duke of Perth escaped and the Prince spent the next five months in hiding. Flora McDonald assisted in his escape by disguising him as her maid and he was eventually smuggled aboard a French vessel to sail to exile in France. The skilfully hand decorated set features many of the historic characters from this famous battle.

Each Studio Anne Carlton (SAC) chess piece is hand-produced and hand decorated with painstaking detail. All painting of the themed chess sets are carried out using highly skilled artists who are encouraged to use their own interpretations and skills providing stunning detailed painting and thereby creating unique individual masterpieces.
Each set takes in excess of a full week to paint and set is individual to the artist.

Studio Anne Carlton (SAC) chess sets utilize the timeless skills and craftsmanship originating from the company's founding. Their themed chess sets are a work of art because each piece is originally hand sculpted prior to making the molds.
All of the pieces are handmade from silicon molds and pouring quality crushed stone enriched resin which has had all air bubbles removed in a vacuum chamber therefore giving the superior perfection that is always achieved. Any mold lines are hand removed, first with a blade then hand polished.
